Tumblr Crossposting
Dec. 4th, 2018 04:17 pmCrossposting from tumblr via ifttt seems... not worth it, actually. It looks like the content was posted by me even when it was reblogged from another user; I can’t predict which will or will not be crossposted; there’s a delay, which is less of an issue, really, were it not for the unpredictability element.
I hope the Wordpress backup goes thru <.<
It’s still thinking.

Hi!
Date: 2018-12-04 09:51 pm (UTC)I've been wondering if it's worth cross-posting or backing up my Tumblr stuff. Cross-posting for original content that's text-based might be nice, but the different platforms will get different likes/comments, and the comments won't transfer.... So all the fun back-and-forth community interchange will be missing. I'm probably gonna just copy my fic over and be done.
How easy was the WordPress backup? I saw norcumi reblogged (on Tumblr) a different tool that seemed like you have to code it first but then it downloads a backup of all your Tumblr blog posts? I'm trying to decide what to do. I'm gonna have a ~little~ bit of free time around Christmas...
Re: Hi!
Date: 2018-12-04 10:08 pm (UTC)Honestly I haven’t figured out the crossposting yet, and so far I don’t think it’s working very well. Provided I put up a sticky post somewhere that says most crossposted entries are not my original writing, it may be fine, but I don’t think I don’t like the format. Maybe I’ll just do original posts, after all. You’re right about the comments, too, that seems like it’d be a bit of a hassle.
The Wordpress backup is... still running. I have no idea if it’ll work. Their servers are overloaded, probably by everyone trying to backup their tumblrs. I don’t want to download the tumblr to my drive honestly. I’d rather it was online, but if Wordpress doesn’t work out, guess I’ll have to.
